Our Story

Hi, I’m Aishwarya. I started Chicmati because I wanted to make more thoughtful choices about what I wear, especially reducing polyester in my everyday wardrobe. That led me to explore Indian textiles, handblock printing and naturally dyed fabrics.

Our sarees are handblock printed using traditional Bagru printing techniques and naturally dyed, with each piece made by skilled artisans.

From everyday sarees to festive favourites, and handmade Everyday Essentials for your wardrobe and home, Chicmati is for anyone who loves Indian textiles, colour and craft.

Questions You Might Have

How should I wash my saree?

  • Wash separately in cold water.
  • Use a mild liquid detergent.
  • Gently hand wash; do not scrub or wring.
  • Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight.
  • Iron on the reverse side using low–medium heat.
  • Slight colour bleeding during the first few washes is natural.

Will the saree look exactly like it does in the photos?

  • We photograph our sarees in natural light to show the colours as accurately as possible.
  • Slight colour variations may occur due to different screen settings.
  • Since every saree is handblock printed, small variations in the print are natural and make each saree unique.

When will I receive my order?

  • Your order will be shipped within 48 working hours.
  • Tracking details will be sent to the email address provided at checkout once your order is shipped.

What is the length of the sarees?

  • Saree length: approximately 5.5 metres
  • Blouse piece: approximately 1 metre

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

  • We currently do not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind, colour preference or personal preferences.
  • If you receive a damaged or defective product, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Since our sarees are handblock printed, slight variations in print, minor marks or irregularities may occur. These are natural characteristics of handmade craftsmanship and are not considered defects.
